All students of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum together form the student body, which in turn is divided into student councils according to the fields of study. The Student Council for Physics and Astronomy is the union of all students of physics; all students of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, including PhD students, are members of this student council. Every semester, the student council’s plenary assembly of the members, so to say the legislature of the student council, meets and in particular elects student representatives, which basically represent the executive branch of the student council.
In this branch we want to inform about the student council and its place in the structure of the faculty, in particular about the plenary assembly, the (current) student council and the work of the council in the committees. Organizational Chart of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum
The following organizational chart is intended as a rough overview of the connections between the committees. The student body and the university administration are parallel organizations which together form the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Both organizations are divided into student councils or faculties, respectively, which have extensive self-administration rights. As a student and thus a member of the RUB, you are entitled to vote for the student parliament and your student representatives, as well as for the student members of the Senate and your faculty council!
