In the following we inform about the processing of personal data when using the website http://www.fachschaft.physik.rub.de/ or http://www.fachschaft.physik.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/, respectively. Any data that can be related to you personally are designated as personal data. Other conditions may apply on other Ruhr-Universität Bochum websites.
Responsible within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation and the NRW State Data Protection Act is the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Universitätsstr. 150, 44780 Bochum, executing: student council of the faculty for Physics and Astronomy.
Description and scope of data processing
Each time you access the website the provision of personal data is necessary (necessary for the processing of the information, legal basis: article 6, paragraph 1, letter e). The following data is therefore used:
- information about the browser type and version used
- the user’s operating system
- the user’s IP-address
- date and time of the access
- websites from which the user`s system accesses our website
The data is also stored in the log files of our system for a maximum of five days. This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user.
Legal basis for data processing
Legal basis for the temporary storage of the data and the log files is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.
Purpose of the data processing
The temporary storage of the IP-address by the system is necessary to enable the delivery of the website to the user’s computer. For this purpose, the user’s IP-address must remain stored for the duration of the session.
The storage of the log file occurs, to ensure the functionality of the website. Furthermore, the data is used to optimize the website and to ensure the security of our information technology system. An evaluation of the data for marketing purposes does not take place in this context.
These purposes are also our legitimate interest in data processing according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.
Email contact
When contacting us by email, the data you provide (email address, other information you provide) will be processed and stored by us in order to answer you questions. Files of this kind are kept at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum for five years (necessary for the fulfilment task, retention period according to the Ruhr-Universität’s policy, legal basis Art.6 para. 1, letter e).
Your rights as a data subject
If your personal data is processed, you are a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR and you have the following rights vis-à-vis the controller:
You may request confirmation as to whether personal data concerning you are being processed. If such processing is taking place, you can obtain information about the purpose, the data, the origin of the data, recipients of data (including international transfers) and the duration of storage.
You have the right to have the data corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete. Under various conditions, you have the right to have the data deleted or to restrict the processing. In particular, data that you have provided voluntarily must be deleted if you withdraw your consent. If data has been disclosed, the deletion also applies to the recipients of data and we will inform you of the recipients of your data.
